Franchot Anti-Slots Group Forced to Stop Broadcasting False Radio Ad

BALTIMORE, MD - Peter Franchot's anti-slots group, Marylanders United Against Slots, has been forced to stop airing Baltimore radio ads, and forced also to issue a formal retraction, for falsely claiming in their very first paid advertising that their anti-slots position was endorsed by Baltimoreans United in Leadership Development (BUILD).

Today's Baltimore Sun, quotes Rob English, lead organizer for Baltimoreans United in Leadership Development (BUILD):

"We've never taken a position for or against slots. How dare they assume what an individual organization's position is?"

The Baltimore Sun also notes:

"An anti-slots ballot committee will modify its first radio advertisement and issue a formal retraction today after mistakenly listing a Baltimore faith-based nonprofit organization as an endorser, officials said yesterday."

Baltimoreans United in Leadership Development (BUILD) is a broad-based, non-profit, community power organization, rooted in Baltimore's neighborhoods and churches. BUILD is non-partisan, interfaith, multiracial, and dedicated to making Baltimore a better place to live. More information is available at the group's web site, http://www.buildiaf.org.
